GET A HEAD START ON YOUR CAREER!

The Government of Canada and Canada’s parliament provide interesting employment opportunities for students. Now is a good time to start looking for a summer job. Here are some ideas. All these programs require you to apply online.

CANADA SUMMER JOBS
Canada Summer Jobs
is an initiative of the Youth Employment Strategy, which is the Government of Canada’s commitment to helping young people between the ages of 15 and 30, particularly those facing barriers to employment, get the information and gain the skills, work experience and abilities they need to transition successfully into the labour market.

EMPLOYMENT AND INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITIES

Senate Student Employment Program
Throughout the year, the Senate hires full-time secondary or post-secondary students to work in various areas of the Senate Administration.

House of Commons Page Program
Each year, 40 students are selected from high schools and CEGEPs across Canada to come to Ottawa to work as Pages in the House of Commons. Pages have the opportunity to learn about the House of Commons while witnessing the legislative process first hand. Those hired as Pages work on a part-time basis during their first year of study at one of the universities in the National Capital Region. Please look out for information at the end of the summer.

Parliament of Canada – Youth internships and employment opportunities
The Senate, the House of Commons, the Library of Parliament and other organizations offer Canadian youth unique job opportunities, internships and programs to participate in and learn how Parliament works.
